The name “Shanenawa” is etymologically composed of “Shane” (a species of blue bird) and “Nawa” (people), meaning “people of the blue bird.” The Shanenawa are an indigenous group of approximately 1,000 people who live along the banks of the Envira River in the Acre region of the Amazon, specifically in Aldeia Morada Nova, close to the village of Feijó, Acre.
The Shanenawa people have a rich cultural heritage that includes traditional ceremonies, crafts, music, and a deep spiritual connection to the land and nature.
